Three Ways to Clarify Your Floral Vision
Hi! I’m Mikayla, a wedding and event florist located in Salt Lake, Utah. After you inquire with a wedding florist, you’ll schedule a consultation to talk about your ideas for your wedding. Today I’m sharing 3 things you can do to help clarify your floral vision before you jump on a call with your florist.
Pick Your Colors
Don’t just pick 1 or 2 colors! I recommend choosing 2-3 main colors and 2-3 accent colors. Widening your color palette help your florist create interest, depth, and find substitutes. We don’t want your flowers to be so matchy matchy with everything else in your wedding, so let’s elevate your color palette by adding a few more flower colors. Get those flowers to pop and be really memorable for your guests!
Decide On Your “Descriptor Words”
I totally recommend not giving me a list of flowers you want (especially if you don’t know flower names): instead, tell me the vibe and mood you want your wedding to feel. Pick a few words that you think describe your style. Examples of the words I hear the most:
Light - Airy - Whimsical - Wild - Modern - Minimalist - Timeless - Elegant - Organic - Romantic
Make a Priority List
What do you want at your wedding? Where do you want to see flowers at? What do you not want to compromise on?
Sometimes your wish list won’t match up with your budget, so if you make a list of your top requests, you’ll know what to tell your florist what you’re willing to compromise on. I will always recommend going with an impact piece (that WOW moment): a floral arch, a cake meadow, a flower wall, something that will be memorable for your guests!
I hope this helps as you’re planning your wedding! If you’re looking for a wedding florist for your Utah wedding, I’d love to chat with you about your vision!
