Why Do I Need A Floral Consultation?
Hi! I’m Mikayla, a Utah wedding and event florist based out of Salt Lake City. I serve brides all over the state of Utah, and especially love Park City, Salt Lake County, Utah County, and the Salt Flats!
If you’re starting to look for a wedding florist, you may come to find that pricing is hard to find (check out my Wedding Collections: the pricing for those collections are set!) I have basic pricing on my website for Full Service and Design wedding flowers, but there are so many details and measurements that are influential in your floral quote.
This is why florists will have you meet either in person or through zoom for a consultation. And I’m so sorry if this is inconvenient, I really do. I know you have jobs, school, loved ones, and don’t mean to take time away from that. The purpose of a consult is so I can get details about your floral vision that I really won’t know unless you want to write me a 5 page essay with answers to my questions.
I’ll ask you questions about you as a couple so I know who I’m working with, and then I’ll ask you questions about style, colors, and the atmosphere you want your wedding to feel like. I’ll ask about the little details like the texture of ribbon for your bouquets and the length of ribbon. I’ll give you pictures of flower varieties and look over your inspo pictures with you. I’ll ask how long your aisle is, how large your bouquet should be, how much greenery vs flowers should be used for your arrangements. I’ll ask about rental items like vases or candlesticks, the timeline of your wedding day so I know when to set up and take down, and who I should contact if there is an emergency. There’s a lot of details to gather!
A floral consultation will also help me understand your priorities so I can be respectful of your budget and help you get the most bang for your buck. I may recommend repurposing some floral items to save you money!
If you don’t know all the answers to my questions, that's ok! We’ll try our best to get a good estimate. A month before your wedding, we’ll meet again to go over final numbers and change anything you need!
This is also your time to get to know me, and ask me any questions about myself, my business, or anything at all about your wedding. I want to make this easy and stress free for you, so you can enjoy your day!
After our consult, I will send you a custom proposal and price quote that includes details of everything we’ve talked about. Getting you the most accurate price is why a consultation is necessary for florists!
Heads up, some florists have you pay for a consult, or put down a retainer (deposit) before meeting with them for a consultation. My consults are free, and usually last about 45 minutes - 1 hour.
If you’re a Utah bride planning your wedding, I’d love to have a consultation with you to see if we’re a good fit, and to help answer any questions that you may have!
