This Old Fashioned Bouquet Advice
If you go to Pinterest right now and search bridal bouquet size, or if you google “how big should my bridal bouquet be?”, you will find article after article about how your bridal bouquet should look “proportional to your body”, or “what size bridal bouquet fits your body type”.
This is something I’m honestly tired of reading about, so I wanted to share my two cents with you. Because I have NEVER looked at a bride and thought her bouquet was too big or small for her body. Here are some factors that you should actually think about before deciding on a bouquet size.
YOUR PERSONALITY
Are you bold? Dramatic? Let’s make a showstopper bouquet to match that: extra large, maybe cascading with orchids, and over the top.
Are you more shy and reserved? You may feel more comfortable with a more modest or scaled down bouquet.
WHAT YOU’RE DOING WITH IT
I mean, aside from walking down the aisle. If you want to hold it while you’re taking lots of fun photos, dancing, or meeting people, maybe make it a little smaller so its easier to manage.
If you’re only holding it during the ceremony, we can make it as large and grand as you’d like.
HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU WANT TO CARRY
If you have a larger bouquet, it will be heavier! And also harder to hold, because there are more stems! You may need two hands to hold it instead of just one. (Holding your bouquet in the crook of your arm is also an option!) If you’ve been working out, you can deadlift that thing!
THE SIZE OF YOUR WEDDING
Eloping? Maybe something petite is all you need. Or having a larger wedding? Perhaps you want to make an impact at a grand venue with a grand bouquet to match.
However, I’ve also seen this flipped: if you’re eloping, a big bouquet might be the only flowers you have. Go all out for your one wedding floral item. Grand venue with big ceremony flowers and aisle flowers: have a simple bridal bouquet to tone it down and focus all attention on you, not the flowers you’re holding.
I think both works!
YOUR STYLE
If you simply love the look of a certain type of bouquet? This overrules everything else. You should have exactly what you want on your big day and ignore everyone else’s advice!
